About the company

The ReWrite Initiative, a social enterprise and not-for-profit independent publisher, was founded in October 2025 to publish our first project, An Anthology of HOPE. We are currently shortlisting the incredible entries received and hope (!) to publish it in the middle of 2026.

About the people

ReWrite Ambassadors

These are folks from the community who offer their time, skills, and energy, to support the cause of the company by volunteering and/or consulting.

Esther Lemmens (she/they)

Founder and Director of The ReWrite Initiative

Esther is a Queer Mystic, intuitive designer, and LGBTQIA+ advocate. She is an artist, writer, and gentle activist. Generally non-conforming, she likes to refer to herself as a ‘rebel with a cause.’ Her motto is “do YOUR thing, YOUR way,” and she passionately believes that authentic, unapologetic and at times radical self-expression is the most important gift we can give to ourselves – and to the world.

Esther is the founder and host of the Fifty Shades of Gender podcast, which has just had its sixth anniversary at 117 episodes and counting.

Esther moved to the UK from her native Netherlands in 1999, is a lover of food and tea, and has a soft spot for beautiful books and oracle decks. Fully embracing her neurodivergent witchy self, she hugs trees, talks to cats, and doesn’t care if people think she’s weird.

Anna Sansom, PhD (she/they)

Editor, Writer, Author

Anna is an editor, author and researcher who loves working with stories that live at the edges and with the people who write them. She is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a former Sex/Life Editor for DIVA Magazine, the author of her more-than-a-memoir, Desire Lines, and several published erotic stories, and the editor of a trailblazing anthology called Sex Meets Life. She currently shares her “living experiment of desire in queer midlife” on Substack.

Anna offers developmental editing, copyediting and proofreading to help writers get their ideas and words publication-ready. When she’s not playing with words, you can find her frolicking in the sea, crocheting dragons, or pouring from her favourite teapot.
